How to Boot into Download Mode?

To access the download mode on your Samsung Note 10 or above phone hit the following button combination:

And for smartphones previous to the Note 10 series, i.e. the Galaxy S-series, which has a dedicated Bixby button:

  • Press and hold the Bixby + Power + Vol Down buttons

  • You need to press the Power + Volume Down + Home buttons.
  • However, if you wish to enter the download mode using ADB commands then you need to type adb reboot bootloader to get your Galaxy phone booted into the download mode.

What is Recovery mode?

You may use the button combination or the ADB instructions to enter Recovery mode on your Samsung phone. In recovery mode, you can do things like a factory reset the phone, run a graphical test, clean the cache sector, and so on. You may also use the recovery mode to flash firmware files, backup your data, and restore your system files.

How to boot into recovery mode?

  • Turn off your device
  • Turn the device on by pressing and holding Volume Up + Home Button + Power Key.
  • You should see the Recovery interface now.
  • For some devices, turn off completely, now turn on your device by pressing and holding Volume Up + Power Key.
  • When you see the Galaxy logo, stop pressing the keys, and wait for the device to display the recovery mode.

And if you want to enter the recovery mode using the ADB commands then,

  • You need to enter the command adb reboot recovery
